Grandma, why does the US have so much land?
Honey, its becuase of Manifest Destiny! This is a time when America became an imperialist!
Oh ok! Is this the time when US took over land for cultural superiority and competition.
Yup! Culutral Superiority is when people assume their culure is superior, and attempt to push it onto others. In this case, the US beleived that God made them the greatest nation, so they must become that nation!
But what about competition Grandma?
Not quite competition in my opinion, though some can argue it is. The US generally imperialized Asia and Africa since they were competing to have more land than them!
That makes so much sense!
Did you know that the Roman Empire can be considered an imperialist at one point? That is becuase they would take over land for power, profit, and land!
