In this scene, they are talking in their sleep, and Macbeth is watching them after completing his duty of killing the King. The speech bubble for murder demonstrates how important the word murder is; perhaps he imagined Macbeth murdering the King in his dream, similar to how Macbeth imagined the knife. The knives in the middle of the floor demonstrate how Macbeth must act quickly to retrieve them before the guards figure out what happened.
*falls back to sleep*
This is something simple that the audience can see: they accidentally woke each other up while mumbling in their sleep. The shocked expressions on their faces attest to this. The audience finds it amusing that they don't notice the swords.
These deeds must not be thought after these ways; so, it will make us mad.
I'm not sure what they could have said during the prayers after accidentally waking each other up. In the background, Macbeth may be perplexed as to why they went from sleeping to getting up and praying. He may also be perplexed as to why the guards don't notice him standing right there, watching them. Macbeth appears upset, and the audience can infer that he is filled with guilt for murdering the King because he was there in double trust.
In this process, you can see Macbeth in the background, perplexed, allowing the audience to infer whatever they want about what Macbeth might be thinking in this situation. The shift in position demonstrates how this could have been a real event that Macbeth witnessed and is now just a figment of his imagination. They appear to be on guard while also tired due to the late hour. Macbeth may have been perplexed if they went back to sleep as if nothing had happened.
To set the scene, I have it raining because it seems more gloomy when Macbeth is explaining what he has seen and heard and Lady Macbeth tells him to get over it. Lady Macbeth is on her knees because the swords are present, which Macbeth should have left at the crime scene but did not. She appears perplexed because she has no idea what Macbeth is talking about. She would have heard it as well because she was on guard the entire time. Macbeth is depressed; he has a lot of sympathy for what is going on, despite the fact that he did want to kill the king, but now he only feels guilt.
This sequence is meant to reenact Macbeth hears the voice telling him that he murders sleep. I put the line in a thought bubble because Lady Macbeth had previously not heard anything Macbeth was saying, therefore it's possible he was thinking it in his head. I didn't envision him walking along a dark corridor because I thought it would be more exciting if he followed the voice down the stairs and then met Lady Macbeth. His facial expression indicates that he is perplexed; most people would be perplexed if they heard a voice telling them that they murder sleep. He appears to be being watched, but by whom?
