The black death started in the early 1300s when a group of Italian trading ships landed at a port in china.
The black death was a bubonic plague that came from fleas. The fleas mostly lived on rats. As a result, the workers on the ship became very sick.
When the people at the harbour saw that the crew members on ship where very sick, they did not let them get out of their ship until the were better. Although, the mice climbed onto the harbour without an issue. Little did the people know the mice were carrying the disease.

In the 1347, the bubonic plague struck hard killing roughly 25 million people. Many villages turned into ghost towns and never recovered for centuries.
The disease's first signs were when you would get lymph gland usually under the arm or groin. You would then have a high fever and start to get black spots in your internals. If you were to pop the buboes you would then die. if they popped on there own and started oozing black liquid you would usually live
If you were to start coughing up blood you would die in 3 days and if you had buboes on armpit or groin you would die in five days.
Hi I am a medieval doctor, here are some of my treatments we recommend if you get this horrible disease. It worked for johnny it can work for you.
Some of the medieval cures that doctors would use were quite hilarious. Like to strap a live chicken to your wound, run town to town whipping yourself and eat crushed emeralds (for the rich). doctors would tell people not to look at anyone with the bubonic plague or you would contract the plague as well. All of medieval doctors treatments were completely useless and ended up doing more harm then good.
