August 10, 1792: King Louis XVI was caught trying to flee to a remote town in France. Also, the radical group of France had seized power, under the leadership of Maximilien de Robespierre. The king was soon after sent to the Guillotine along with his wife many months later. Soon after, thousands of French citizens are killed for being suspected enemies of the revolution. After many months, Robespierre himself was sent to the Guillotine after the members of the revolution thought he was crazy and killed way too many people.

April 20, 1792-March 27, 1802: Many European powers declared war on France in order to stop the revolution from spreading in the war of the first coalition. Despite the main French force being pushed back, the army commanded by Napoleon. Bonaparte would soon push back the enemy and even marched into Austrian territory, securing the victory for France. In the war of the second coalition, Napoleon would be able to command the main army of France, crushing all of its neighbors.

May 18, 1804: Napoleon Bonaparte held an referendum to have himself as emperor, but that was likely rigged as 99.93% of voters voted for his ascension to emperor. His rise to a monarch ended the French First Republic and started the beginning of the First French Empire and the Napoleonic Wars that changed the map of Europe forever.
