- I am a group of particles going through convection in the mantle of the earth you live on.
- I am currently near the bottom of the mantle. I can feel myself heating up because of the core that is right beneath me. As I heat up, I become less dense and I speed up. Because of this, I start rising towards the top of the mantle
- I have now rised to the top of the mantle. It is much cooler here because I am near the crust. I am cooling down and becoming slower. I am also becoming more dense which is causing me to sink back down into the mantle
- That process continuse infinitly in a circle. As I heat up I rise and as I cool down I sink.
- Every year this process moves the tectonic plates in the crust about 2-10cm.
- You can never feel the plates moving but they always are! Just very slowly!
