  • The Virginian Company was a joint-stock company. Joint-stock companies have investors buy stock in return for a share of their future profits. The Virginian Company wanted to establish a settlement with North America so they could have some land to look for gold to trade for food and more land. The settlers of Jamestown made a settlement with North America so they could get land to look for gold to give back to North America.

  • When they arrived they got settled in and started looking for gold. They couldn't find any gold whatsoever when they were looking. They hoped that the Native Americans wouldn't think anything bad about them and wanted to make peace so they wouldn't have any problems. The Natives took them coming to Jamestown as if they were wanting to start a war. The Natives snuck up and shot the English in the back with an arrow. The guards for the English started firing at the Natives. Some think that the Natives stole the English weapons and shot at them too.
  • Jamestown ran into a lot of problems after they were they for 2 years. They all started getting saltwater poisoning from the river where they were trying to find gold for trade. They started running out of water when the drought season came. People started dying right and left. They ran out of food and had to go make peace with the Natives. The Natives agreed to help them get food. They started growing crops of Tabacoo. 
  • John smith saved Jamestown. He and Pocahontas liked each other. John Smith did a lot for Jamestown. He helped grow crops for food. He helped people build shelter. When he died it started to go downhill and people started dying all over the place. When the supply ship came it carried a deadly disease on it that killed hundreds of the English.

  • After a while, the English went to the natives and tried to trade jewels in order to make peace and get some help from the natives. Pocahontas the leader's daughter agreed to the English and they made peace and the Natives helped them make food. They also helped them make a shelter for when winter came, so they wouldn't all die from frost bite.
