Storyboard Text

  • Tonight we are joined by a scientist from a nearby science center, talking about technology and how it harms us.
  • His name is Dr. Smith and now we turn to them.
  • Yes, today we are joined by Dr. Smith so give it up!
  • Yes, thank you for having me.
  • Of course, anytime!
  • Now as Mrs. Davis said, I will be talking about the ways technology can harm us. Specifically phones and the pull it has on us.
  •
  • See, kids these days are staying up all night on these devices and not getting the proper sleep they need to work properly the next day when they go to school and possibly take tests making their test scores lower.
  •
  • Here you have a man driving with his phone out and working. He isn’t paying attention to the road like he should be and in a second you’ll see why that is bad.
  •
  • See! This all could’ve been avoided by just not using the phone and paying attention.
  •
  • Fun fact, 1 out of 4 car crashes have happened because of being on a phone while driving in the US!
  • Oh wow...
  • So is there any way to get people off their devices?
  • Not just yet however there can be.
  • For example, to get the kids off their devices and sleeping more we should set up time limits automatically when setting up the devices they use such as the tablet.
  • I think that would be perfect! What about the car accidents caused by being on phones?
  • Glad you asked! Phones should have sensors to tell when you are driving and shut down other settings on the device except for emergency calls.
  • Thank you!
  • That sounds like a good idea!
  • “That concludes our segment. Thank you for tuning in and hearing this amazing information with us.
  • More importantly thank you Dr. Smith for coming in today and giving us this information!
  • Of course. Thank you for having me!
  • The End
