- drive-in(chapter 2)
- when Darry slaps pony-boy because he came late(chapter 3)
- johnny kills Bob (chapter 4)
- They are approached by two "attractive female Socs". Cherry (Sherri) Valance and Marcia had left their boyfriends at the drive-in because the boys want to drink but the girls don't. Dally's harsh and unpleasant words are directed towards the girls, but he "cools them off" by buying them sodas. Cherry tosses her soda in Dally's face, and the situation becomes tense until Johnny takes action to save her, which is surprising given that Johnny worships Dally and considers him as his hero.
- johnny and ponyboy run to the church(chapter 5)
- Cherry tells Ponyboy that she hopes she doesn't run into Dally again because she worries falling in love with him. Darry is unhappy with Ponyboy for being out so late when he returns home, Darry slaps Ponyboy during the argument... He's certain Darry doesn't want him around now.
- johnny and ponyboy change there hairs(chapter 5)
- In this scene Bob was attempting to drown ponyboy in the big fountain in the park. the other socs had dropped johnny on the ground. after seeing ponyboy drown johnny comes and stabs Bob in the back. after this johnny gets scared so they decide to run away
- Abandoned church gets on fire (chapter 6)
- Johnny and Ponyboy head to an abandoned church on top of Jay Mountain to run away. After Johnny murders Bob, a member of the Socs, in self-defense, they hide out here and get viewpoint.
- because johnny killed bob, they have to change there identity's. Ponyboy's hair is cut and bleached by Johnny, while Johnny's hair is cut by Ponyboy. They stay inside the church, according the Dally's orders, and pass the time by playing poker.
- The cause of the fire remains unknown. Many say it was a cigarette that Johnny or Ponyboy didn't put out, or that some kids were playing with a match. Johnny and Ponyboy assist in the rescue of a group of schoolchildren from a burning church. Dally also puts his lives at risk to save Johnny from the burning church.
