- Jonas receives his assignment after getting skipped by The Giver.This scene is important because it shows Jonas receiving his assignment of being The Receiver. This is regarded as one of the most important assignments in the community.

- Jonas interacts with Asher after receiving a horrifying memory of warfare. Jonas gets upset after he sees Asher playing a game including an imaginary gun but after getting that memory, he disagrees with it
