- The first few years of my life, we lived in Manhattan
- The move to New Jersey most definitely helped everyone get some more rest...
- The Seedat family was composed of my dad, a finance director, my mother, a dentist, my older sister, and usually a cat.
- My sister and I went to school together from elementary to high school
- I didn't like it there much. Mom and Dad would tell me that I would hardly ever sleep when we were living there. Most days, they'd take me for drives just so I would fall asleep, and sometimes, end up in New Jersey. They started looking for homes in Jersey.
- Around the end of junior year of high school, most of my friends were taking their driving tests to get their licenses...
- I'm terrified...
- So nervous!
- Aren't you afraid?
- After my mom's long work days, she was happy to stick me in my crib knowing I'd fall asleep quickly instead of having to drive me around , desperately hoping I'd fall asleep.
- On the day my driving test was scheduled, I couldn't concentrate on anything else
- I really hope I pass...
- Which I feel pretty grateful for, because otherwise I knew I'd have a hard time navigating through it without her.
- It was a stressful time for all of us. This was our key to independence!
- I don't think I ended up hearing a single word my teachers said that day. They could tell, and they weren't happy.
- I was texting my dad all day
- Of course
- You're going to do great, don't stress!

- I'm so nervous Dad!
- Wish me luck, please
- It was finally time!
- There couldn't have been a more obnoxious sign from God
- He was being so supportive, it really helped ease my anxiety.
- I texted my dad right away
- Dad
- Someone hit us!
- I was far too nervous to drive to the DMV for the test, so my mom drove me.
- That evening when we were preparing dinner together, we talked
- As long as everyone is safe, we'll be okay.
- That was really scary. I'm going to have nightmares!
- Someone rear ended us on our way to the DMV! It definitely felt like the universe was trying to tell me not to get a license...
- Perhaps now would be a good time to joke around...
- Maybe you guys should start driving me around again until I fall asleep again so I don't have to get a license!
- He made sure I knew now was not the time for joking around...
- What?! Are you two okay?
- No, I'm texting you from heaven.
- Everyone was still pretty shaken up...
- I humored them, but they made sure I knew they weren't going down that road again, no pun intended.
