  • The Battle of Hasting 1066
  • The History of 1066!
  • Edward the Confessors death
  • death - Edward the confessor Remembered as King of England- no children
  • Edward the Confessors death
  • I wonder who will take my place as king as I don't have children/ Mhm actually why do I care i'm not even alive to see it!
  • Welcome to my interpation on the whole year of 1066 by Sophie Wight
  • Harold Gowinsons claim
  • Sure, Edward I would love too
  • The Battle of Hastings all started on the 4th January 1066, when Edward the confessor died as an result of old age and suffered from a cold. As a result of Edward the confessor not having children there was no real air to throne. This was a massive concern for the whole of England as they didn't know who would replaced the king.
  • The 3 contenders for throne
  • I Harald Hardrada should be King- i'm a fierce warrior and can lead a country as you can see from my experience !!
  • Edward the confessor would have no clue who would be the next king but I think Edward wouldn't of been too concerned on who was taking the throne next, as he wouldn't be alive to see it. Harold Godwinson said he was told to take the throne, so their could of been a chance that Edward would of thought Harold would take his place.
  • The 3 contenders for throne
  • As you can see i Duke William of Normandy is going to be King i'm a better warrior than anyone and can keep everyone in line
  • Harold Godwinson, Earl of Wessex claimed that in King Edwards dying moments he told Harold that the throne was left to him. This has no proof if it's true as its only his word verses others. But with the claim he was confirment by an English Witan (a group of great men) to become the King. With Harold's claim he had an advantage and he ruled the Anglo-Saxons so he was a strong leader, but he didn't speak English, have an army or wasn't a skilled warrior.
  • Harold Godwinson, before I die take my place as king
  • Harald Hardrada was a strong contender in getting the throne of England as he had a lot of experience running a country as he already was the King of Norway. Harald was a very strong warrior as he was in control of the Norway army. There was only two down falls of Harald and they were he didn't have any family connection and he couldn't speak English.
  • Learning English and being a relation to Edward the confessor isn't important, right?
  • Duke William of Normandy was a very strong contender as he was a a successful duke and helped Harald run and take care of France. Duke William of Normandy actually was a distance cousin of King Edward the confessor, he also was a strong warrior he helped run the army. William was also promised the throne in 1051 The only down fall of Duke William of Normandy was like Harald Hardrada he couldn't speak English
  • I am also a distance cousin to Edward the Confessor so I just need to learn English then i shall be King
