  • Do you guys know the 1st phase of a cell cycle?
  • Yes it is the Interphase
  • First, the cells grow in size, then replicate the DNA, and then prepare for cell division.
  • In this phase, chromosomes condense and coil. The nucleolus disappears, and the nuclear envelope breaks down.
  • So the next one has to be Telophase?
  • But what's afterInterphasethen?
  • Next is the beginning of Mitosis. This is called the Prophase .
  • The next phase is the Metaphase which means the middle stage.
  • In this phase, the spindle fiber attaches to protein and aligns the chromosomes along the equator
  • So what's next?
  • Who knows what comes after Prophase?
  • So the next stage is anaphase, right?
  • Yes, and that's when chromatids turn into chromosomes.
  • Yes, and those chromosomes are pulled towards opposite poles of the cell.
  • Yes, and that's also when the nuclearenvelope reforms, and spindle fibers break apart.
  • Yes, that's when a set of identical chromosomes is placed at each pole of the cell.
  • And an easy way to remember the 4 parts of mitosis is PMAT !
  • Next is called the Cytokinesis which completes the cell cycle.
  • Yes, in this phase, thecytoplasm divides into 2 identical daughter cells.
