- On the 14th of August 1946, the Transvaal Council of Non-European Trade Unions called to express their hard felt feeling in regards to the general strike that occured.

- I don't know if you have heard already but our mine lost a huge amout of Gold because of the ongoing strikes
- The police had a huge problem with the CONETU and the mine workers meeting up as he banned the whole meeting before it even started.
- As there were women marching to the Newtown Market Square they got stopped by the police and one woman with child was brutally killed.
- I would like to share a moment of silence for those that left us, they remain a huge part of us

- The mine workers were so upset when they were told by their steward that the mine has lost lots of money, but their need were not taken care of at all.
- A total of 1,248 miners on strike were wounded and nine were killed.
- Even though the strike did not help a raise in wages, it was noted to have been a historical event that catalyzed the Anti-Apartheid Movement.
