  • Kunta Kinta's was born and the naming had to still take place. only the father is to name the child. the process of naming took 8 days and until then they called the child baby boy. the father did not know what to name the child so he lifts the baby up to the sky and gives him a name Kunta Kinta.
  • Capture of Kunta Kinta
  • Kunta Kinta's capturing to become a slave took place when his grandmother sent him out for a quest. He was going to build a drum for his brother .He went into tall grasses which he was warned not to in manhood training. He was surrounded by white men, they took him and put shackles on him. Kunta Kinta now new that he might never return home to his tribe.
  • Held in a slave pen
  • All the slaves that were captured were put in a pen or barracoon, they were tightly sealed and packed together. were about 100 slaves in one pen and the pens were very small. When a mother would have children in a pen most likely, the baby would die and as well as the mother too.
  • All of the slaves that were captured were put in the hull of the ship meaning the under of the ship. The slaves would get very sea sick and vomit excessively. Any will die or have serious injuries and diseases. The shackled areas that the slaves will lay in will be very rough and not sanded leading to their skin being teared.

  • All of the slaves that were kept in the hull of the ship were taken out 2-3 times a day. They were taken out for the cause to excerzise and keep the slaves healthy. They're way of physical activity was dancing or just jumping around. Kunta Kinta saw a key necklace that would let the slave's shackles come free. He attacked them and killed a few white men but it was unsuccessful. After that they were severely punished.

  • Every single slave did not understand anything that the British people were saying. They're pricing was based on their strengths and qualities. All of the towns people would come to watch the auctioning of the slaves. The men would usually buy women he liked, because of all the rape that was with women in the slave trade. Kunta Kinta was very stubborn go on the outdoor stage that the slaves were auctioned at. He was purchased by Mr. Reynolds and Mr.Reynolds had his own most trusted and head slave Diddler.
  • Once Kunta Kinta was purchased by Mr. Reynolds and bought as a slave for life, his name was no longer to remain. Kunta Kinta was stubborn to change his name to Toby. The head and most trusted slave had to slowly teach him the name so he will understand. Kunta Kinta was not his name anymore, his new slave for life name was Toby.
