Act 1, Scene 1: The three witches ( weird sisters) meet with each other on a desert heath. They wait to meet Macbeth "When the battle's lost and won", when "fair is foul and foul is fair."
Act 1, Scene 7: Macbeth is contemplating the thought of murdering King Duncan. When Lady Macbeth joins him, he tells her that they cannot murder the King. Lady Macbeth does not like that and starts to question his manhood. She tries to make him feel bad by saying that she nursed his baby. She tells him that if she would have known her husband was such a weakling she would have rather "dashed [the baby's] brains out."
Act II, Scene 1: Banquo is talking to his son Fleance in Macbeth's courtyard. Banquo confesses that he is afraid to sleep. He keeps having "cursed thoughts" about the things the witches told him about his children. Macbeth joins them and tells them that he thinks nothing of what the witches said.Once Macbeth is alone he imagines a dagger in front of him and then leaves to assassinate the king.
Act II, Scene 2: Lady Macbeth is in the courtyard and she fears that her husband did not follow through with the plan. Her fears are settled when Macbeth joins her and assures her that he has murdered King Duncan. Lady Macbeth tells him to wash his hands which are covered with the king's blood. Macbeth starts to get nervous when he starts hearing a knocking surrounding the castle. He feels like no water could fully cleanse his hands of the blood.
Act III, Scene 1: Macbeth feels threatened by Banquo. He fears that what the witches told him about his heirs would come true. To stop the witches prophecy from coming true, Macbeth has two men go and attempt to murder Banquo and his son Fleance.
Act III, Scene 3: The two murderers and a third unidentified one find Banquo and his son Fleance. After finding them they succeed in murdering Banquo. They did not succeed in murdering Fleance who escaped.
