  • L'ouverture was born enslave on the French colony of Haiti. Francios-Dominique Toussaint L'ouverture also know as Toussaint L'ouverture was a Haitian general and the prominent leader of the Haitian Revolution. Louverture is now known as the "Father of Haiti".

  • Toussaint L'ouvertrue led a successful slave revolt and emancipated the slaves in the French colony of Saint-Domingue. He turned the colony into a country governed by former black slaves as a nominal French protectorate and made himself ruler of the entire island of Hispaniola
