  • One month after release from Prison Abdul is homeless as he has no recourse to public funds
  • Anyone I talk to, they only talk about waiting for deportation, but I'm a disabled person
  • I need help.I got out of prison in August. I am going to be homeless from a hostel and I am unwell with MS. I don't have any money.I have nowhere to go, my Mum passed away a long time ago and without parents I have no home and no family. Only an aunt and an uncle who live in London.
  • He contacts Adult Social Care connects and later his social worker arranges payment to the hostel
  • Abdul's Hostel
  • I feel connected to my local community because I have no problem speaking to people and having a joke, and I would be willing to spend the last two pounds in my pocket to feed someone who needs it
  • I don’t feel I had the right amount of choice and control over the support provided to me or right amount of information to make decisions about my support, they explained nothing to me
  • I need emergency accommodation where I can live with my girlfriend so she can support me. This would help me to be as independent as possible
  • I don’t live in a home which is accessible and designed so that I can be as independent as possible because the place where I am now is absolutely horrible. If I were a dog they would treat me better than this.
  • I don’t feel I have care and support that enables me to live as I want to, as a unique person with skills, strengths and personal goals
  • The housing authority cannot help Abdul because he has no recourse to public funds
  • The Immigration Service and Citizen's Advice told me to ask my Social Worker to help me find a solicitor, and he said it wasn't his job.
  • I feel that the Council could at least find me a bedsit. I'm disabled, and there are lots of empty houses. I can't be in the street, because the cold affects me too badly.
  • I used to work all day in the grill section of a kitchen. Now I have difficulties with depression and MS.
  • They need to explain to people and respect them as human. Why do they withdraw support and say I have to make a new application. And why do they tell me to fund it myself?
  • My girlfriend is my carer but she moved out when I was imprisoned. Now I've been released my rent support has been withdrawn and I'm now in a single room in a hostel. They say I have to apply again to be housed by myself without my carer
  • I phoned the Social Worker three times, but was told it's not their job to find me a solicitor. In Hertfordshire they gave me lists of solicitors through citizen's Advice. Essex has given me only one e-mail, and I have to sort it out myself.
  • I have very poor health and have had no help from solicitors or the Immigration Service
