Storyboard Text

  • Should I tell my teacher? Last time he told me to just wait and see how I felt.
  • Let's take a short break
  • Sarah is 10 years old and is allergic to egg and milk. She is sitting in her classroom at school. 
  • Hi, Sarah. Is everything alright?
  • Sarah starts to feel unwell. She sees that hives have developed on her arms. Sarah thinks she is having an allergic reaction. She knows she should tell somebody, but last time this happened, her teacher did not listen to her.
  • What symptoms does Sarah have?
  • Swelling of mouth
  • Hoarse Voice Hoarse Voice
  • Wheezing
  • Dizziness
  • Sarah decides to click the Astivo button that she keeps inside her pocket to alert staff about her symptoms.
  • Time to Review Sarah
  • Does Sarah have any new symptoms?

  • Sarah's teacher, Michael, hears the alert signal and gives the class a break while he checks the Astivo app. He sees an alert from Sarah. He knows that the school nurse and Sarah's parents will be alerted too so he must take Sarah's symptoms seriously.
  • That went well. I'll be sure to alert my teacher whenever I am having a reaction
  • Michael goes to Sarah's desk so that he can assess her symptoms and takes out his phone to check the Astivo app
  • Even though Sarah has no history of anaphylaxis, the symptoms indicative of anaphylaxis are presented first, just in case. Since Sarah is not experiencing any of these symptoms, based on her care plan, the Astivo app prompts Michael to give her medication.

  • Michael gives Sarah her medication. The Astivo app sends an alert to Michael every 2 minutes to remind him to reassess Sarah's symptoms in case they have gotten worse.
