  • Now that we know what equipment we need, lets discuss the drugs used during intubation, their purpose, and the half-life of each drug. Please follow along using the list of drugs in your packet.
  • 1. Vecuronium 2. Rocuronium 3. Succinylcholine 4. Versed 5. Fentanyl
  • 1. gather appropriate equipment 2. pre-oxygenate and position patient 3. administer sedation/paralytic 4. Use the 4-step technique from the video to intubate 5. Verify placement of tube 6. Select appropriate ventilator settings
  • Please step forward one at a time and, using the mannequin and equipment provided, follow the steps to intubate the mannequin. You may use one classmate as an assistant to help hand you equipment.
  • Great job, everyone! You all did well on the demonstration. Now we will take a short written test about intubation and intubation drugs. Please turn your paper over when you have completed the test.
  • You all did a great job! Make sure that you have the packets that I gave you. They have your intubation checklist. Your first 10 intubations must be supervised and signed off. Good luck!
  • Congratulations!
