  • When shall we three meet again, in thunder, lightning, or in rain?
  • When the hurly-burly's done, when the battle's lost and won
  • The three witches meet during a huge storm. They talk about when they’ll see each other again, and mention a battle that will soon be over. They also say strange things like “Fair is foul, and foul is fair,” which means things aren’t always what they seem
  • Slide: 2
  • O valiant cousin! Worthy gentleman!
  • For brave Macbeth—well he deserves that name—disdaining fortune, with his brandished steel, carved out his passage.
  • A wounded captain tells King Duncan about Macbeth’s bravery in battle. He explains how Macbeth fought like a hero and helped win the battle. Duncan is super impressed and plans to reward Macbeth for being so brave.

  • All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!
  • All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!
  • Speak, I charge you!
  • Good sir, why do you start and seem to fear things that do sound so fair?
  • Macbeth and Banquo run into the witches after the battle. The witches tell Macbeth he’s going to become king one day. Banquo is doubtful, but Macbeth is very curious and starts thinking about what it means
