- A year has passed, William (the Father) is at work.
- Valued employee, you say? Now this? You promised me a promotion just last week, to manager, and now you mean to say I’m fired? What will I tell Mary (his wife)
- Fired! Let’s not exaggerate here, William, you know how things are going–the state of the economy, all the banks closing because of bank runs, not to mention the stock market plummeting…. I fear I have to close the factory.
- Hoover has just declared that the fundamental business of the country is on a sound and prosperous basis. But this day, October 25, will be known to history as Black Thursday.
- William Returns home from work
- Not to worry darling. I heard on the radio earlier that President Hoover urges us all to stay calm, all is well
- Damn this president! He has cost me my job and now this
- Wow that movie was fantastic! That movie perfectly represented out lives. I wish we could go back to before.
- With hoover out and with Roosevelt about to win the 1932 election, hopefully things can start to get better.
