- Gentleman Visitor:*the Gentleman Visitor approches Scrooge* Scrooge and Marleys, i believe. Have i the pleasure of addressing Mr. Scrooge or Mr. Marley.
- Scrooge: Yes, yes?

- Gentleman Visitor: I have no doubt that his liberality is well represented by his surviving partner. Here, sir, my card. *he hands Scrooge his buisness card*
- Scrooge: Marley's dead. Seven years tonight. What is it that you want?
- Scrooge and Marley
- *He returns to his work*
- Scrooge: Hmmm? Oh, yes, yes. And good night

- scrooge: Yes, yes... *he sees the outstretched hand; he knows what Sparsit wants and is infuriated* Out! Out! *he closes the door after Sparsit, turns towards his chamber , and discovers the charwomen right behind him.*
- Sparsit:*extending his hand for his coin* Merry Christmas, sir.
- Marley: Ask who i was. *he answers* In life, I was your partner, Jacob Marley. *he answers* 7 years this night, Ebenezer Scrooge.
- Scrooge: Who are you? *she answers* Who were you? *she answers* Hes dead.
