Samuel Parris ,soon to be Minister of Salem Village arrives with his wife , daughter, niece and slave in fall of 1689 to Salem Village in the states of Massachusetts .

Samuel Parris meets Thomas Putnam and other villagers about his past ventures and how he plans to make Salem Village a better place . Villagers hope that this time becoming a Minister will works out . Samuel Parris has bit of doubt , but Thomas Putnam assures that it will work out and gives the key's to the Minister's house .

Next day , near the meeting house are Francis Nurse , Isaac Easty , Joseph Putnam and later Peter Cloyce talking about Samuel Parris's demands as a minister .

Samuel Parris and the villagers gather at the meeting house to listen to a sermon presented by the new minister .
Who's there in those woods ?
Samuel Parris starts to leave the meeting house . As he does so , Dorcas Good comes running into him . During this , other villagers gather around to watch - Thomas Putnam and Jonathan Walcott together with Rebecca Nurse , Mary Easty and Sarah Cloyce . Later , Elizabeth Parris was afflicted and Rebecca Nurse offered to help but Samuel Parris wisely turned down .
You are a tall man in a black color coat .
You see ? The would take everything from me - my salary , my house even my firewood ! Never know they drive me away from Salem .
The minister's wife , Elizabeth Parris id afflicted , according to Tituba . She stays at home , stays in the bed , stays in the room . Elizabeth Parris never goes out . She sobs . Weeping and sobbing , as if her whole body and heart were trembling and shattering . Sometimes , a strange wild laugh that sends chills down the spine . She sleep walks , leaves the bed and the room . Her eyes open , walking on the paths at night .
I was never a strong child . From a young age , I have been afflicted by chills . I almost died in Barbados . I thought coming to Salem would make things better . But , nothing changed I got those fevers again and visions . Now I can't let my husband know that !

Elizabeth Parris is in a waking dream and meets a rebellious girl name Abigail Hobbs . Both of them hear whispering and singing . Soon after , Samuel Parris arrives and drags the girl away from Elizabeth and throws the girl to the floor . Tituba comforts Elizabeth . Abigail Hobbs and Samuel Parris argue , but stop when Parris sees the condition of his wife isn't good . They leave .
I hear those noises too !
After a while , Jonathan Walcott and Thomas Putnam meet at the meeting house . Later , uninvited guests Joseph Putnam and Francis Nurse arrive .The four of them argue but stop when the minister arrives at the meeting house . Samuel Parris hands Thomas Putnam and Jonathan Walcott a letter which he received from Francis Nurse at night . They read it . After reading it , all of them still argue . Soon after that , Peter Cloyce and Isaac Easty arrive . After their arrival , they continue bickering . then , Samuel Parris leaves . After that , all of them leave one by one .
Is it your church , Putnam ? The church of Putnam and his group .

At Parris's house , Samuel Parris requests Tituba to bring the kids . The all kneel on Parris's command and start praying together . They all chant the last line with Parris , their voices louder than before , almost in rage .
