Storyboard Text

  • The Duke says he feels sorry for Antonio and that Shylock is a heartless Jew.
  • Shylock says that he should be allowed to cut off a pound of Antonio's flesh as per their agreement.
  • Antonio says that Shylock is being cruel because he won't listen to pleas for mercy.
  • Portia, disguised as Doctor Balthazar, hands a letter from Doctor Bellario saying that Balthazar will take Bellario's place in court.
  • Portia tells the Duke that even though Shylock can take a pound of flesh from Antonio if he spills a drop of blood, Shylock will get all of his possessions, and if he choose not to take any flesh he still will be in trouble.
  • Antonio forces Shylock to become Christian, give half of his belongings to him, and the other half will go to Jessica and Lorenzo when he dies.
