What does the character look like
From being around people who bullied her because of her skin complexion, once Jude had moved away from college she still felt unformattable with her skin. As the author states in the text, "She wasn't in Mallard anymore, but somehow, the town wouldn't leave her"(Bennett 125). Jude can't let go of the fact that she is away from Mallard and the colorism. She is struggling to understand that she is now in a new place with new people who will not judge her as much.
