Siddhartha Gautama was born in Nepal(India) in the 500s BCE. He grew up as a wealthy Hindu prince and had all the luxuries he desired. His father was a king and he wanted Siddhartha to be a king as well.
Im hungryyy
Siddhartha’s father shielded him from everything unpleasant because he wanted Siddhartha to become a king, not a spiritual leader. A fortune-teller told his father that Siddhartha could take either of these paths. As a result, Siddhartha was hidden from the truth and never saw suffering...poor, sad, or sick people.
Ahmmm...Ahmmmmm
When Siddhartha left the palace he saw an old man and a person afflicted with sickness. He also saw a funeral procession and an ascetic. When he saw this he decided to look for the truth about life.
To begin his journey he went to the ascetics. The ascetics deny themselves the needs link life like food, water, nice clothing, and shelter. After a while, Siddhartha realized that he was just bringing more suffering to himself so he decided to leave.
He went and sat under a bodhi tree and meditated for days on end. When he was done he discovers the middle way and the 4 noble truths. He also discovered the eightfold path.
After Buddha reached enlightenment he traveled around and spread the word about what he had found. Some of the ascetics, gurus, and other people decided to follow him. After a while, Buddha went back to the palace and eventually his wife, son, and father started to follow him.
