- Setting: Canoe on the Hanover River in New Hamshire with summer homes all around. The narrator who is a bit younger than Sheila asked her out on a dateto Dioxford.
- Climax
- The main conflict in this story is man vs self, the narrator doesn't realize he put his fishing rod up just out of instict but does not relize until it is too late so he tries to hide it from shelia so she wont see it and thinks hes werid.
- Falling Action
- The narrator then hooks the biggest bass he has ever seen but he dose not want Shelia to know that he brought his fishing rod with him so he has to decide if he is gonna get the bass and be embarrassed or let it go.
- Resulosion
- The narrator decide to cut the line so Sheila doesn't see and looses the biggest bass he had ever seen.
- The narrator takes her to the music festival and she soon after she got there she ended up ditching him and he realized she just used him as a ride.
- The story send with the narrator realizing he was dumb to let the bass go and she never cared about him and it would have never worked out between them.
