- An armed man pointed his gun at Salva's chin when Salva tried to move towards the men's group. Salva then thought of his family, and that made him mentally stronger.
- If I die now, I will never see my family again.

- The fact that Sudan did not have any clean water caused Salva to create an inspiring organization that provided Sudanese people with drinkable water.
- Hello. I am here to talk to you about a project for Southern Sudan.
- "All he could see was the gun's huge barrel...The end of the barrel touched his chin. Salva felt his knees turn to water. He closed his eyes. If I die now, I will never see my family again. Somehow, this thought strengthened him enough to keep him from collapsing in terror" (Park 11).
- Ender gets bullied by Stilson and his friends on earth. Ender defends himself by kicking Stilson multiple times before Stilson is bleeding on the floor. Ender made sure that Stilson would never bully him again.
- "Salva spoke to hundreds of people - in churches, at civic organizations, in schools... Day by day, solving one problem at a time, Salva moved toward his goal" (Park 109 - 110).
- Ender learns that the humans were really the more violent species, and the buggers are actually a peaceful species who work together. Therefore, he creates his own planet and culture to help the buggers thrive again, after destroying their civilization.
- Just remember what I do to people who try to hurt me.
- "...Ender kicked out high and hard, catching Stilson square in the breastbone. He dropped... Ender walked to Stilson's supine body and kicked him again, viciously, in the ribs" (Card 7).
- "And always Ender carried with him a dry white cocoon, looking for the world where the hive-queen could awaken and thrive in peace. He looked a long time" (Card 324).
