The souls journey:
The souls journey begins in heaven. Hashem comes to the soul and tells it that he has a mission for it in the world to do mitzvot and good deeds. The soul then travels to a body, but it becomes distracted by physical pleasures. This is to remind us that we are off track, and our body and soul aren’t alined so Hashem brings us trouble and tests. These troubles make the mind scared, which leads to the person entering a bad head space. Because of this, the body calls out to idols for help, but eventaully realizes that this is a hopeless endeavor, and it should abandon its idol worship. Then, the soul goes to sleep because it can’t sense G-d anymore. While the soul is asleep, the Yetzer Tov trys to awaken it, and convince the soul to do teshuva. While this is happening, the sailors are trying to decide whether to blame the body or the soul. So, they cast lots in order to figure out who is to blame. After repeatedly drawing the soul, they realize that it should be in control since it is the bigger person. The soul then realizes that it’s their fault and it takes accountability. Meanwhile, the body is still in shock and askes the soul how could it have left Hashem? The soul responds and says, “let me do teshuva.” The body then realizes that it needs to be a partner with the soul so, it talks to Hashem and tells G-d not to blame himself (the body) since the soul is the one in control. The soul then begins doing teshuva, and the body becomes aware of G-d. This then causes the body to become on board with the souls mission of fearing G-d. Lastly, the body makes vows to be faithfull to Hashem.
