Storyboard Text

  • Narrator: After the boat had left Israel, Hashem sent a "mighty wind upon the sea". There was a large storm that threatened to break the boat. All of the sailors were worried so they threw a bunch of cargo overboard in order to make the boat lighter. While this was taking place Yonah was no where to be found.

  • Yonah: Hashem is mad at me which is why he sent a large storm. I just want to go to sleep and die which is why I'm at the bottom of the boat. This way I will be first to die when it starts filling up. Maybe Hashem will save everyone after I die. Oh, and maybe my decree of dying will be checked off since I will be at the bottom of the boat when it starts filling up.

  • The sailors drew lots multiple times to determine who was causing the storm and Yonah's name appeared every time. Since the sailors repeatdly drew lots we know that they must have believed in a higher power. Or else they wouldn't have done this. After choosing lots they asked Yonah many questions wondering what he must have done to create such a big storm. Finally, they asked Yonah what they must do to end the storm and he told that they must throw him overboard.
  • Sailors: Wow I cant believe it. The storm stopped right when Yonah entered the water. His G-d must be real and the most power full of all. We shall make vows to convert to Judaism and convert our families as thanks to him for saving us.
