  • The Wedding Dance 
  • I'll keep the beads because they stand for the love you have for me.
  • Awiyao they are looking for you at the dance.
  • if I fail, I'll come back to you, and both of us shall vanish from the life of our tribe.

  • you know that I have done my best, I have sacrifice many chickens in my prayer to Kabunyan.
  • I'm sorry this has to be done.
  • I don't care about the fields, or the house, I don't care about anything but you.
  • Lumay I did this because of my need of a child.
  • The story took place in the mountain province of Philippines, the story started with the sound of Gangsas beat through the walls of the dark house like muffled roars, a married couple name Awiyao and Lumay are separating because they cannot have a child even after how many years of being married. Awiyao married madulimay in hope of having a son.

  • It's not right, I should talk to the elder's
  • Awiyao promised to Lumnay that if he fail to have a child for the second time around he will go back to Lumnay. Lumnay decided to keep the beads with her for it symbolize the love of Awiyao for Lumnay. after the heartfelt talk the old couple had, a voice was heard from outside calling for Awiyao to go back to the dance. Awiyao finally leaves to rejoin the wedding celebration.

  • Awiyao and Lumnay doesn't want the separation but they had to follow their tribe's custom. outside, the villagers are dancing in celebration of the wedding of Awiyao and Madulimay, Awiyao leaves to try and comfort lumnay his first wife, inside the house Awiyao and Lumnay talk were he offers her many items of the life they built together, Lumnay refuses and clings to Awiyao wishing he would stay.

  • Awiyao rejoins the villagers in celebrating his marriage, lumnay wanted to follow and stop their tradition, when she finally gain courage she ran to the wedding dance , she wants to tell the elders that Awiyao is her's, but when she made it to the other side of the village where people are dancing , she decided to walk away from the dancing ground, away from the village.
  • Everyone seems happy, I should just let them be.
  • Lumnay runs into the hill, she sat at a rock thinking how her life has changed. She has a sense of desperation and isolation, while looking at the plants especially the beans which symbolize fertility and fruitfulness lumnay feels worthless she envy the plants for their fruitfulness while she is fruitless.
  • how fortunate that plant of beans with abundant fruit, unlike me who can't conceive and worthless.
  • After Lumnay cried her heart out in the mountains she went home to the house of her parents and again live with them, she was really sad of what happened but as the time pass by she healed from the wound brought by love, she embrace and accept all the pain, she learn to love herself and respect herself including all her flaws, that even if she cant bear a child she is worthy, that even if she and Awiyao didn't end up together at least she got to experience that love and she will have all the memories with her, the story ended happily with the main characters living their new lives.
