- The Journey of Electric Vehicles: An 8 Chapter Summary Written by Luke Sosnow
- What is an Electric Vehicle?
- I'll tell you Charlie, an Electric Vehicle(EV's) is a more practical, ever changing, beneficial type of transportation. People are starting to prefer EV's because they use an electric motor instead of fuel combustion engine which is more convenient and safe to use.

- Who Invented the Electric Vehicle?

- The first electric vehicle was developed in the 1830s by Robert Anderson, a Scottish inventor. In the early 20th century, EV's were more popular than gasoline vehicles, especially in urban areas. The introduction of the Ford Model T in 1908 led to a decline in the popularity of EV's Interest in EV's began to grow again in the 1990s and 2000s due to concerns about climate change and air pollution.

- Wow You Are Serious About This! What Are The Mechanical Benefits?
- Yes I Am. Charlie, Please Listen. Electric automobiles are faster than gasoline-powered vehicles, which is one of its amazing facts. To go from a motionless to an instantaneous speed, the electric engine generates 100% of the potential torque in an instant. They're famously quiet as they do not require the mechanical valves, fans or gears o traditional combustion engines. Electric automobiles could also be regarded as batteries on wheels. With the correct technology, it is feasible to use the power in a car battery to feed your own house or balance the electrical grid at particular periods of the day.

- Interesting features but how are electric vehiclesgood for the environment?
- Wow Charlie I THOUGHT you knew more. Electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions, reducing air pollution. The production of electric vehicles produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions than traditional gasoline vehicles. Electric vehicles can be powered using renewable energy sources like solar and wind power.
- Chapter 4: Environmental Benefits
- Damn. So are there ANY issues with electric vehicles?
- Charlie I thought you were learning. EVERYTHING has problems. Electric vehicles are more expensive upfront than gasoline vehicles, but they can also save money in the long run due to lower operating and maintenance costs or tax credits. Also, electric vehicles limited range means they can only travel 100 to 300 miles in one charge, depending on the model. It should also be noted it takes a semi long time to charge an EV.
- Chapter 5: The Problems
- Ok then so who are biggest producers of electric vehicles?
- Well...The most well-known producer of electric vehicles is Tesla. Although several automakers started making electric cars, Tesla is presently the most well-known electric car manufacturer, particularly for its Model 3 and Model X models. Toyota, Chevrolet, and Nissan are a few more well-known producers of electric vehicles. Also, China is the largest and by far the fastest-growing EV market in the world. Interestingly, in H1 2022, the country delivered a whopping 2.4 million EVs to customers in mainland China only.

- Well I definitely gotta get a Tesla car now professor.
- Maybe in the future Charlie. Speaking of the future, I would love to leave you with thoughts on solutions and future of electric vehicles. I will give you three things that need to happen to fully transition to EV's. 1. Government policies need to favor EV's producers and consumers like credits, jobs etc. 2. Car companies need to make more commitments to making more EV's to ensure competition and continuation of EV market. Hold on for number 3..,

- Wow I have to let others know about EV's after you presented all that damn info to me! Thanks professor you are the best!
- 3. We need to buy more EV's to accelerate consumer growth. If the popularity is rising, hopefully there will be a lot more EV's on the road in a couple years. Now go tell everyone to buy EV's NOW!
