Odysseus' introduction to the story is very unique, because he was one of the suiters that agreed to fight. He is now married, so he acts like he is insane but they threaten to kill his baby so he goes to war.
Sirens
Odysseus prepared himself for surviving on his own by going to this war. He proved himself worthy of being a hero, by coming up with the idea of the trojan horse and hiding in it.
Ultimate Battle
In this quest Odysseus was trapped in a cave with a cyclops that wanted to eat all of his men, including him. He escaped by riding the goats. One color archetype is the cyclops' eye which was red that could represent death or blood.
Triumphant Return
This was one of the last quests that Odysseus had to go on to get home. There were 2 sirens that were trying to get him to jump off the boat. The archetypal character is the siren, which is trying to distract him from his main task.
When Odysseus has to fight all of the suiters he has to show a lot of confidence. He has learned to stay calm in battle, and this showed for a little but then he lost controll. This promotes him to a hero because he saves his wife from getting remarried.
"Now fight, or flee."
Odysseus return fits the triumphant return part of the hero cycle because he is rewarded with being the king of Ithaca again. He is also rewarded by getting to see his wife and son.
