- During the healing process, you have three main helpers; Osteoblasts which are the bone makers, Osteoclasts which are the bone breakers, and Osteocytes which the bones for the formation to start.
- First the osteoblasts release a chemical that creates osteoclasts. Then, the osteoclasts start to break down the bone by eating it. Next, the osteoblasts sends another hormone to stop the osteoclasts from eating the whole thing. Moreover, the osteoclasts blows itself up once the job is done. Lastly, the osteoblasts fill the holes with calcium and phosphate to create new bone.
- We can't forget about the bone marrow and spongy bone! The bone marrow effectively and rapidly improves the healing. Bone marrow provides stem cells which are a big help during the process. The spongy bone reduces the density of the bone and allows the ends of the long bone to compress. In this case, the spongy bone is remodeled into a thin layer of compact bone.
