- Good morning Mrs. Strangeworth, I placed an order for the novels.
- After talking with the Dons, Mrs. Strangeworth went on down sunny street and stopped to ask Billy Moore why he isn't riding his daddy's shiny new car. Then, she stopped outside the library to talk with Miss Chandler the librarian about the ordering of new novels, that will be paid for by the annual library.
- She didn't bother fixing her hair this morning. Ugh, I hate such sloppiness.
- "Many people seemed disturbed recently."
- Good morning dear, very well, great.
- Why doesn't your father want me to come around anymore? What did I do?
- While Mrs. Strangeworth was standing before the mail slot slipping in her letters, she overheard Linda Stewart crying to the Harris boy about how the Harris boy can't come around anymore, because of something nasty they're accused of doing. Mrs. Strangeworth listened carefully, she believed she ought to know anything concerning her town's people. while slipping in her letters one fell out at her feet, but she didn't notice and left. The Harris boy picked it up and delivered it to the person intended to, Don Crane.
- I can't tell you, You've got to have a dirty mind for things like that.
- My town needs to be kept clean from those wicked and degraded people everywhere. They need to be watched.
- Mrs. Strangeworth woke up feeling extremely happy that today the letters would be opened. She went downstairs, found the mail on the hall floor, picked it up and found one of her letters, she was confused as to how someone would send it back to her if she wrote it anonymous. She unfolded the letter and started to cry silently for the wickedness of the words that said, "Look at what used to be your roses."
