Storyboard Text

  • Cameron and her lawyer chatted outside the Courthouse right before her trial.
  • Okay, so I know I can count on you to prove me innocent. I'm so glad I have the opportunity to have a new trial. Last time, my trial was against the 6th Amendment because they didn't give me a lawyer. I'm just so happy I realized it. Even though, I did steal, it was for my family and I felt that I had to so I could save my mom.
  • I'm going to do everything to prove you innocent, Cameron. I was wondering, I think I should bring up Clarence Earl Gideon's case, your's is pretty similar.
  • I would like to start off by saying that Cameron's case if very similar to Clarence Earl Gideon's case. He stole beverages, $5, and broke into a Florida pool hall. He didn't receive a lawyer, so he had to defend himself. He ended up getting another trial with a lawyer and was proven innocent. I wanted to make sure everyone was aware that Cameron's last case was unfair since she didn't get a lawyer, which is against the 6th Amendment. The 6th Amendment allows people on trial for crimes a lawyer, impartial jury, and a speedy and public trial.
  • My daughter should not be sentenced to prison. She got the money to try and save me from my illness. Yes, she could receive community service, but not jail time. She stole to help, not to hurt.
  • I would like to have Cameron's mom to come up and tell us her perspective please!
  • Cameron's lawyer defended Cameron to the best of her ability. After a long trial, the jury made a decision...
  • Woohoo!!
  • The jury has come to the decision that Cameron was proven innocent! You will receive 15 hours of community service, but that's it! You're good to go!
  • Thank you so much!! If it wasn't for you, I would still be in jail because of how unfair my past case was. I'm so happy I can leave knowing I don't have to spend time in a jail cell.
  • I'm glad I could help!
  • That night, Cameron could go to sleep in her own bed safe in her own home. She was more than grateful to not be known as a prisoner anymore!!
