After the increasing violence between Mexico and Texas settlers, Texas wrote he turtle bayou Resolution in 1832.
The Texans declared their loyalty to Mexico and the Mexican constitution of 1824, and they pledged their support to Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna.
The second convention met in April of 1833 with the newly elected delegates. Much of there petition was the same as the original from 1832, but more emphasis was placed on becoming their own state separate from Coahuila y Tejas.
Stephan F. Austin asked each district to elect five delegates. On October 1, 1832 the discussed their plan of action. the delegates wanted to resume immigration from the United States.
While he was waiting, he sent letters back to Texas telling Officials to establish their own government. During their meeting, Santa Anna did agree with Austin, but on Austins way back he got arrested. The Mexican government had intercepted his letter and imprisoned him for treason. He was not aloud to return to Texas until 1835.
In 1833, Stephan F. Austin traveled to Mexico city to present a list of requests from the Texens to the Mexican government. When he arrived, Santa Anna have become the leader of Mexico, but it took months for Austin to get a meeting.
