Invasion of Troy
Trojan horse, huge hollow wooden horse constructed by the Greeks to gain entrance into Troy during the Trojan War. The horse was built by Epeius, a master carpenter and pugilist.
Years of fighting
Those who believe that the stories of the Trojan War are derived from a specific historical conflict usually date it to the 12th or 11th century BC, often preferring the dates given by Eratosthenes,1194–1184 BC, which roughly correspond to archaeological evidence of a catastrophic burning of Troy VII.
Achilles and Hector

Trojan Horse
And still, other historians suggest that the real “Trojan horse” could be anything froma ship with soldiers inside of it to a simple battering ram similarly dressed in horse hides. Whichever version of the story you choose to accept, the term “Trojan horse” is still used today.
Aftermath
After the Trojan defeat,the Greeks heroes slowly made their way home. Odysseus took 10 years to make the arduous and often-interrupted journey home to Ithaca recounted in the “Odyssey.” Helen, whose two successive Trojan husbands were killed during the war, returned to Sparta to reign with Menelaus.
