The phone booth was developed in 1889 by William Gray. It allowed more public access to telephones and costed money to use. Not everyone had phone service back then, so a public phone system allowed much more people to communicate.
In the 1920s, the rotary phone was developed. Interestingly enough, it did not see use in the American public until the 1950s. The rotary phone allowed people to call each other without having to connect to an operator, leading to quicker communication overall.
The mobile phone was created in the 1970s, and allowed much easier communication. Instead of being limited by the location of the phone, you could pick it up and move around. This completely restructured the way people called each other, as you could now call people on the go.
Finally, the modern cell phone was developed in the 2000s. This phone has a touch screen, and can do many more things than just call. You can connect to the internet, watch shows, play games, text, listen to music, and do many more things.
It is evident that the development of the phone has greatly improved. The fact that you can now send someone across the world a picture beginning from something that could only call people in your town is astounding. Each new version of the cell phone has had its own impact on the world, and each of them has revolutionized communication in its own way.
