- JONAS IS OUR NEW Receiver of Memory! BYE EVERYONE
- The Chief Elder gives Assignments to the Elevens. Fiona is assigned as Caretaker at the House of the Old, which Jonas knows she will enjoy. After each Assignment, the Chief Elder tells the assigned child
- Chapter 10
- Everyone is in the Auditorium confused , After the final Assignment the Chief Elder speaks and apologizes to the community for the anxiety she has caused them to feel.
- Chapter 11
- Jonas realizes that his life will never be the same as a result of having been selected as the new Receiver of Memory. Jonas feels separate and different now, People move aside for him to pass, and his peers are unsure of how to act toward him.
- Chapter 12
- The Giver told Jonas to keep all their meetings a secret. Jonas has now became the Giver and knows have the towns secerets.
- Jonas Now is receiving memories, so Jonas removes his shirt and lies facedown on a bed. The Elder puts his hands on Jonas's back and begins to transmit all the towns memory.
- Jonas goes to school the next day and during lunch everyone is talking about their new assignments and their training. Jonas realizes he couldn't explain his training even if he were allowed. When he sees Fiona, it's clear that she expects him to talk about his training.
