- Lewis and Clark explore the Northeast corner of Kansas and thought it was majestic, the only piece of criticism was that the river tasted like poop.

- Zebulon Pike explored western Kansas and thought it was "worthless" and compared Kansas to the Sahara Desert in Africa.

- Stephen long also explored western Kansas and compared it to a desert. Stephen Long also named Kansas on the map as "The Great American Desert".
- Andrew Jackson made a speech about why they should not send "White Americans" aka "their people" to a desert and why the "savages" should go there.
- The government kicked out the "savages" and sent them to Kansas because they didn't want to send the "White Americans" to a worthless place.
