"Mom I'm worried about the ceremony in December!"
"It's okay son me and you farther had to do the ceremony of twelves and we were nervous too. But its gone be okay don't stress over it."
Hey sweet heart!! How was your day."
"Its was great actually dad!!"
"Mom is it hard working in the Department of Law and Order?"
"No son it is not. I really like the job the Elders picked for me."
December Finally approaches. where the new 12 year old's will be given their assignment.Jonas was the only one who didn't get an assignment.
"Why won't you tell people about the memories?"
Jonas meets the Giver and the Giver tells Jonas about these things called "memories". After a while Jonas gets mad that the Giver wont tell others about the memories.
"Sorry Jonas but I can't, it is against the rules."
So there is this thing called release." That is where the children with no parents go. So as Jonas grows with his memories, he finds out that "release" means death.
The Giver ends with Jonas's rejection of his community's ideal of Sameness. He decides to rescue Gabriel and escape the community and they grow deadly weaker as they travel through an unfamiliar windy landscape.
