- Franz Ferdinand and his wife were in their vehicle on June 28, 1914, driving through Sarajevo to the Town Hall. There were several assassins along the route, the first attempt was when a man named Nedeljko Cabrinovic threw a bomb into the car. The bomb bounced off the car and Archduke was able to get away quickly. There was another opportunity for one of the assassins Gavrilo Princip, when the motorcade took a wrong turn and he happened to be right beside it. Princip fired twice one hitting Sophie (Ferdinand's wife) and the other hitting Fradinand killing them both.

- On May 7th, 1915 the Lusitania was near the coast of Ireland. When it was spotted by a German U-boat (U-20). U-20 fired a torpedo at the Lusitania and made a direct hit on the side, followed by a huge explosion that could be felt through the ship. It started sinking immediately, and the captain ordered to abandon the ship but since it was tilted on its side it made it difficult for people to get off. Only 761 survived out of the 1,959 and 1,198 were killed.
