  • It was the beginning of the school year. Everyone was walking in, rushing to get to their classes.
  • AUDITIONS!
  • It was pretty normal day. I was walking around the halls of Dodge County High School. Wondering about miscellaneous things - the latest gossip, the breakups, the makeups, the lunch menu, what my next class would consist of, you know, all the things that would run through the mind of a freshman. Until I came upon a poster...
  • AUDITIONS!
  • Auditions soon! Please contact Mrs. Purvis for audition information!” the poster read. Auditions? For a play? I pondered in my mind. I had always been passionate about theatre. But I never really had the courage to audition in my middle school days. Maybe that could change? I mean a new school, new place, new people. Maybe this could be my chance to explore my passions. Okay, I’ll sign up-
  • Dumb? Did people here think that theatre was dumb? Would I just go on stage and embarrass myself? Who am I kidding, would I even make it past the auditions?
  • Who would want to audition for a play?”
  • “It’s dumb.
  • So, I thought and pondered on it for a while...
  • Go for it! Follow your dreams!
  • DUMB! DUMB! DUMB!
  • I was stuck for a while. Going back and forth with myself. Until it hit me!
  • I shouldn’t care what other people thought, that if I was passionate about it, I should pursue my dreams. I would enjoy this! I told myself. I would love being on a stage, learning lines, the whole 9 yards! Who cares what they say!
  • So I waited in line until it was my turn...
  • And I auditioned!

  • On opening night me and my castmates did such an amazing job, we ended up winning an award!
  • From then on, theatre became an important part of my life for the next 4 years of highschool!
