- "All Quiet on the Western Front" is a story about a group of German high school boys that all enlist in the war together and all have the same struggles whilst at war. This connects to me and my friends because at school we all struggle together although this is much less extreme the connection is still there.
- Paul Buamer and his comrades wait in their trenches for a French attack.
- Paul loses one of his best friends to the war (Franz Kemmermich). Soon after this Paul realizes the dangers of war and needs to figure out how to survive the rest of the war and not end up like his fallen comrade.
- The French military finally decides to make a move on the Germans, in this process Paul get injured and hides behind a old gravestone for cover.
- The French soldiers decided to barrage the German fort with large amounts of bombs, some artillery planes, and tanks that gunned down the entire fort. This caused many casualties and lowered morale for soldiers.
- After the barraging had finally stopped, the German soldiers decided to resort to hand to hand combat, because they couldn't afford anymore mass casualties from gun fire. This is the first time Paul is on the front lines. While on the front Paul kills a French soldier named Gerard Duval.
