  • We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their adulthood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating ''For whites Only."

  • One hundred years later the life of the Negro is still badly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination
  • He is using ethos ethos by quoting Abraham Lincoln.

  • we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now
  • he uses this to make us think of the way we want to be treated.

  • 'l'here will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro i~ granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright days of justice emerge
  • everyone knows what it is like to be left out, and we know how bad it feels.
  • Logos
  • instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America ha.s given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked ''insufficient funds
  • He says this because he is in front of the Lincoln memorial, and considers this ground to be sacred .
  • he is saying that blacks and whites wilnot be equil unles the whites treat them like equals.
  • He knows that everyone can relate to this metaphor.
