Oedipus sends Creon to the oracle to find out how to cure the city of its curse
Creon
Creon returns and states they must find the killer of King Laius and exile him, to do this they bring a prophet to determine who the killer is, however the prophet states that the killer is actually Oedipus. Oedipus denies this because the oracle said that the son of Laius would kill him. The prophet then reveals that Oedipus is the true son of Laius.
Oedipus did not believe this non sense and requests to speak to the messenger who found him as a baby. The messenger arrives and says that a shepherd working for Laius had given Oedipus to him, Oedipus then demands to speak to the shepherd and end this confusion.
The shepherd arrives and states that the previous king Laius and Queen Jocasta had given the shepherd a baby and said to leave it to die, however the shepherd gave the baby to the messenger instead.
This reveals that Oedipus is most likely the son of the queen, the one he is also married to, this leads Jocasta into killing herself since she could not handle the terrible truth.
This led Oedpius into blinding himself knowing he could never look at his parents the same again. He begs Creon to exile him from the land for he was the one that kept the curse on the city, he never did this on purpose though, it was only what the oracle foretold him that led him into this mess.
