Storyboard Text

  • Hello I am king Hammurabi the king who took over Sumeria and the person who made Hammurabis code, on the right , which layed out in writing all the laws in my city. Mesopotamia was the first proper civilization, a big part of that is thanks to the implementation of laws across its land, which hadn't been done before. I also made the famous "eye for an eye" saying, which means a punishment must be equal to its crime.
  • The economy in Mesopotamia was really important as the wealth created helped develop the civilization further. Sheckels were the currency used. Money was exchanged through the trade of goods and services, which included the selling of crops and animals. Slave labor also created a lot of wealth as they had a big workforce that barely got paid. Donkeys and camels were used as transport by traders, who later switched to vehicles and boats as a more efficient way to travel and trade.
  • Religion played a huge role in ancient Mesopotamia. Mesopotamians worshiped thousands of gods and the state created temples called Ziggurats. Mesopotamians belived that their kings were chosen by the gods
