To begin, the woman thinks its weird that Mr. Goodman goes outside each night to look up at the sky. This supports the theme because the woman was telling Mr. Goodman that she thinks it's weird he stares at the sky during nighttime. He claims that he does it because he cant fall asleep. This made Mr. Goodman get upset since he was accused of being an alien. According to Goodman, Wait a minute now. You keep your distance-all of you. So I've got a car that starts by itself-well that's a freak thing (674). This shows that the residents were accusing Goodman of being suspicious because his car was the only one that would start itself and it all created chaos and fighting. Lastly, accoring to Woman 1 You killed him, Charlie. You shot him dead (679) . This quote supports the theme because the residents were trying to figure out who the monster was and Charlie saw a dark figure coming and accidently shot Pete. This theme supports all of this evidence because all of these events caused negative results at the end.
