June is a 14-year-old girl that is very shy and quiet. She is very distant and different from her older sister. She has a sort of intimate relationship with her uncle, which conflicts with her relationship with her sister. After her uncle passes away, she forms a secret relationship with her uncle's boyfriend which turned her more self-centered and jealous than her self when her uncle was alive.
"Before" June is a very reserved, quiet, and dynamic character and normally keeps to herself most of the time unless she's with her Uncle Finn. She is very conflicted with her feelings as her sister is messing with them a lot. She also feels conflicted with her relationship with her uncle. Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Brunt says, "We're back, right? Like we used to be... ...I don't want to hear it. Just go. Get out" (Brunt 37).
"After" June is more harsher and self-centered than "Before" June. She has changed a lot through her thoughts and actions. She's grown more distant to her sister and longs for her dead uncle, which has made her very snippy, jealous, and selfish. Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Brunt says, "That really ticked me off, because I'm not a jealous person. Not at all. Why should I be jealous... ...My Finn stories were dull and plain. Small and stupid" (Brunt 144).
